More overworld lobbies means more separate instances, such as Havens, to load. Similarly, gremlins move in large numbers, thus playing as one (at least for darkfangs) would not be very good. Spiral Knights travel in small groups, thus having only Knights to fight would mean very short levels for Darkfang gremlins. Enough design into this and it becomes an entirely different game. Again, lots of time put into this for no real outcome. Factions also must have higher-ups and stuff that bring news and reason to do missions. That is a lot of developer time put into a whole lot of nothing. This equates to 3 completely different mission sets. We have a linear system and in order for this to work, we would have to have many missions, both unique, per faction. Factions do not work in our current game in terms of its mission system. If I don't mention specific items or areas, it's because that's developer time that must go into designing/programming/revamping art, etc. Not trying to tear the suggestion apart, but I sort of will while saying exactly why it doesn't really work. Playing as a gremlin would essentially be a completely different game with different design, and as such, would not work with our current layout. Spiral Knights follows the course of the Spiral Order. I understand this is a very ambitious Idea and the chances of this happening are slim to none, but I wanted to put it out there and see if anyone agrees. The concept opens a whole new world of possibilities as well as an insight to gremlin background. I personally would enjoy more playing as a gremlin. As the most self aware and intelligent race "native" to Cradle, this would provide grounds to expand on the mysteries of Cradle, specially more knowlege of what lies inside the core. W ether that be Emberlight or the main Darkfang Colony. Basically a gremlin faction exclusive equivalent of Heaven. Tame able mobs (Wolvers, Chromas, Constructs, Slimes/Lichens etc) to assist the gremlin player in contrast to a Knight's battle sprite) that would require a premium item to tame a monster of the player's choice, one given to the player as a mission reward and if the Gremlin player desired more pets, this item would be available for purchase at the Supply Depot. Spiral Knight mobs and bosses to oppose a Gremlin player Dedicated Gremlin exclusive missions based of the faction chosen for gremlins Darkfang/Emberlight Outcasts (Opposing or working with spirals depending on the faction chosen to be implemented) Gremlin Specific helms, shields and armor pieces Claws (Seen Spuderspark or whatever his name was, having some equipped) Spirals would use swords, Gremlins would use hammers) Hammers (new hammer lines that would work differently from swords, perhaps race exclusive. A quick rundown of points that would come with Gremlins as a playable class ( rough ideas from a little brainstorming): This would give the players option to make a character of either Gremlin or Spiral origin. I would like to suggest that a new playable race be introduced to Spiral Knights: Gremlins However I do want to throw it out there, just to see what happens. It would require alot of development and would most likely not be implemented anytime soon, if at all. This is just an opinion I think would add quite a bit of variety and depth to Spiral Knights.
